Last week, Parachute kindly sent me the new Organic Soft Luxe bedding, which launches today and introduces the brand's first new fabric in four years. It's 100 percent cotton sateen, like the best hotel sheets, but it has a matte finish instead of the usual shiny one. The collection includes two pillowcases, a top sheet, a fitted sheet, and even a duvet cover—all of which are individually wrapped, which makes them feel even more luxe, if you ask me. After removing the wrapping and putting the linens through a wash-and-dry cycle, I dressed up my bed in its new outfit: a crisp, clean white look complete with a jet-black border. The collection also comes in a bone shade with cream-toned piping.
Anyway, after outfitting my mattress in its new bedding, I noticed that it made my entire bedroom look more glamorous, which I credit to the subtle border along the edges of all of the pieces—not just the duvet, which is a nice uniform touch. Before getting into bed later that day, I did some reading about the collection so that I would know exactly what I'd be sleeping on: 100 percent GOTS, certified organic cotton that's made in Portugal. Parachute designed it to feel like a casual take on hotel sheets, so "you can sleep like you're on vacation," according to the brand.
Now, as a design editor, I have tested my fair share of luxurious sheets—lots of which did not live up to the hype or the marketing—so when I tucked myself into Parachute's new collection, I was skeptical. However, all of my cynicism dissipated the second I slid under the duvet. The cotton sateen really did remind me of hotel sheets because the set is on the thicker side (but not heavy), and they have a little bit of ASMR-quality sound to them. Somehow, they're also extremely soft—probably because the fabric is brushed and garment washed to make it feel warm and cozy.
Like I said, I have a lot of sheets on the shelves in my linen closet, but I have a feeling I'll be reaching for these more often than not. They're the perfect halfway point between crisp and soft, simple and charismatic, and thick and thin. So if you need a new set of linens, you can't go wrong with this one.
